Does That Make Me a Pack Rat?- Alaina & Ryan

I guess I never thought myself to be a pack rat until I was accused of being one because I save every “thank you” email that every bride sends me. I have a super long Word Document with all the accolades I have received from brides and family members over the last few years, and so, when Alaina emailed me her thank you for these photos, I added them to the document… and then was accused of being a pack rat!!! I guess it’s true and I just never thought about it, and either way, nothing makes you feel better on a day when you are downtrodden, than to read over the joy that a beautiful photo brings to a couple… USUALLY INDICATED BY CAPS LOCKED WRITING AND LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This photo is so dramatic. It makes me think of the final episode of a soap opera, where the woman is giving some monologue about how she has to leave him, despite her love for him; yatta, yatta.

My patented “say something ridiculous/obscene in order to elicit a smile from your subjects” approach hits another homerun:

The Beauty Found in the Smallest Details: Amy & Allen

Amy and Allen were married on Okaloosa Island on November 3rd. I don’t know how many wedding magazines Amy must have scoured to find the intricate details of her wedding, but I imagine the number is high!

A starfish was used to transport the rings to them during the ceremony

I LOVE PARASOLS!!! They are so elegant!

That’s right, the kids’ straws were shaped like flip flops

Smart bride: Amy opted to have the bride’s cake be a big, fat, delicious chocolate one!

Champagne glasses with bling:

Amy’s one photo request was to get a shot of her and the bridesmaids jumping with the parasols!

Coolest guest book ever!!! The pages were given to each of the guests at the wedding, along with a marker. The guests then filled in their answers to questions such as: where did you travel from, how do you know the bride and groom, what are your wishes for us, do you have any advice for us, etc. There was also a Polaroid camera that the guests used to photograph themselves and to attach the photo to their page. I about started crying reading some of them!

Couples Who Play Together Stay Together: Jessica and Adam

Today, Jessica, Adam and I got to hang out and take some photos for them to use in their Christmas cards, and to send as Save The Date cards… the wedding is not for another 1.5-2 years, but, heck, the kids like to plan ahead!

I had the best time with these guys because I never had to ask them to do anything- they just went crazy all on their own! This was by far the least amount of instruction I’ve ever had to give a couple, and these ridiculously cute poses they came up with were completely theirs!

The whole getting in the water thing is getting pretty popular. Jessica and Adam, though, just wanted an excuse to beat each other up in the water- it was an instantaneous splash fight/tackle party as soon as they were in!

Six Degrees of Separation: Lydia & Tim

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one step away from each person he or she knows and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is no more than six steps away from each person on Earth.

Well it turns out that Lydia and I grew up in the same town, graduated in the same year, and have mutual friends that we had no idea about. Now, here we are, pretty far away from home, and somehow, she found me and asked me to photograph her wedding…. it’s a small world.

I am so stinking lucky: I spent this afternoon hanging out with Danielle and Bart, who will be getting married in May of next year. I thought we were having enough of a good time as it was, but lo and behold, Danielle states that she wants to take photos in the water… that’s right IN THE WATER. My first thought is the fact that it is flippin freezing out here, but, hey, what won’t I do for a good photo? {nothing}

The Ones To Blame For All This Frolicking In The Water Craze!

Aliesha and Danny came to me with one request: that at the end of their engagement photo session, they wanted to roll around in the water after it was all over. Little did I know the chain of events that this request would catalyze! About 70% of all the engagement photos I am taking now want the “perfume commercial” shot of the guy and the girl making out in the ocean. Funny!

I had a great time at Katie & Brian’s wedding! They were referrals from a couple whose wedding I photographed at the same church about a year and a half ago, and I just loved them! Katie’s dad had me rolling in laughter all night, and Brian’s parents were putting everyone to shame with their awesome ballroom-dancing-skills… SO JEALOUS!

The Long-Awaited Wedding of Jessica & Cole

FINALLY!!! JESSICA AND COLE GOT MARRIED!

I am feeling very generous as far as how many photos to include in this blog for multiple reasons:
1) Jessica and Cole are both very good friends whom I love very much
2) So pretty/handsome it makes you a little bit queasy
3) Jessica picked out all the best vendors, following a bit of advice from her awesome (and most importantly, humble) photographer

We started the day at the crack of dawn so all the girls could get their hair done. This is Kristen Luke, owner of Serendipity Salon in Crestview. She is not a hair dresser, nor a hair stylist, but rather a hair GENIUS!!!!

A bit of an unusual “something blue”, thanks to Maid of Honor, Hannah (wedding to come in October 2008!) We all carried a little bit of blue around that morning… good times!

The boys were hanging out for quite a while before the girls were even close to being ready for photos!
